Jones Soda founder joins Broadburst Board of Directors

Peter van Stolk, founder and former CEO of Jones Soda Co, signed on as a Broadburst Board of Directors member in February 2008. Broadburst is pleased to welcome such a successful marketer who shares Broadburst's passion for innovation and out-of-the-box business thinking as part of the team.

While van Stolk garnered significant business success prior to establishing Jones Soda, it's the success of the soda company that made him legendary. Van Stolk is credited with going up against the dog-eat-dog world of soft drinks-and winning. Amidst the global, multibillion dollar soda giants, with unlimited resources and access to the masses, van Stolk successfully established Jones Soda in 1997 through sheer wit, creativity, and on a shoestring budget. In only three short years, Jones Soda had already found its niche in the marketplace, reaching nearly $20 million in sales.

Van Stolk's marketing mastery has earned him recognition as one of today's savviest Generation Y (age 12 to 24) marketers. He successfully gained brand loyalty among one of North America's most sought after category of consumers-a feat that the monster-sized companies have spent millions of dollars on and not achieved.

Van Stolk says that it's the thrill of the competition that drives him. "I love understanding the game and then changing the rules," he says.

Today van Stolk is a much sought-after international speaker. He travels worldwide, educating various groups on a broad range of inspirational and motivating talks, as well as marketing and business topics including how to compete, how to market your product, and how to build a successful business. Peter is the Director of Vitamin Angels, a charity for children that seeks to provide vital nutrition to children in the Third World. He also runs the The Tree Fort Group consulting company, leveraging his many years of business expertise.

 

Broadburst opens office in Toronto

This month, Broadburst officially established a presence in Toronto by opening an office at 59 Mutual Street. Headed up by Vice President Chris Galt, the office is home to the Toronto-based business development and sales team, and is directed by Broadburst President Bill Brooks. 

"As we all know, an Ontario presence, specifically in Toronto, is strategically important for the growth of Broadburst network development and media sales," says Brooks. "Eighty-five percent of decisions regarding media buys are in the Toronto market. From this office we are currently servicing Ivanhoe-Cambridge, Gateway Newsstands, Mirvish Theaters and our Toronto-based affiliates."

The Toronto location is Broadburst's second Canadian office, with the head office in Vancouver, BC.
